Going beyond our usual operations of providing services for area schools, ESD 105 is now actually running a school with the opening this September of the new Blossoms Early Learning Center in Yakima.

ESD 105 was awarded a grant in April from a private donor to manage the programming and facilities at Blossoms, which officially opened on Sept. 19 for 3- and 4-year-old children.  The building contains four classrooms with a capacity to serve up to 72 children, who can be enrolled though various funding sources such as ECEAP, Working Connections Child Care Subsidies, private pay tuition, and a scholarship fund provided though a Yakima area business.  The center is open Mondays-Fridays from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., accommodating the schedules of working parents.  The site includes two teacher offices with observation windows, a teacher workroom, a laundry room, a harbor-themed background play area, and a kitchen that provides breakfasts, lunches, and snacks.  About a dozen new ESD 105 staff members are being hired to help in Blossoms’ operations.
