Resources for Districts

Materials for Families and Child Care Providers

The AESD has developed learning platform-specific materials to assist districts in working with families, community organizations, and child care providers as they support students and families with distance/remote learning.

Materials and Resources

Materials are available for districts to use with families in nine (9) languages (Ukrainian, Russian, Farsi, Tagalog, French, Arabic, Somali, Vietnamese & Spanish) for each of the five (5) learning management systems (LMS): Canvas, Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Schoology, and Seesaw.

Customizable PowerPoint presentation slides with presenter notes

The slide deck is intended to be customized and presented by district personnel to parents. It includes highlighted text and/or images that indicate the district-specific changes that will need to be made to fit local decisions, tools, and approaches–for example, you will replace placeholders to mention your district’s chosen video conferencing tool (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, etc.) Please check both the slides and the speaker notes for needed customizations.

The slide deck may be presented in any way that works for your district. Some ideas you might consider are:

  • Virtual parent night
  • Partner with your parent-teacher organization to present
  • After sharing the slide deck, add resources to your website for continued access
